With Iron Man 3 set to hit theaters in May, leading man Robert Downey Jr. has been touring around the world to promote it. Following his appearance in South Korea, Jaeger-LeCoultre were excited to announce Iron Man’s alter ego Tony Stark’s watch of choice: the new AMVOX5 World Chronograph.
This follows up JLC sponsoring Iron Man 2, when Tony Stark’s watch of choice was a AMVOX3 Tourbillon GMT. As Tony Stark (aka Iron Man) is a billionaire playboy and genius scientist, the modern, but dressy AMVOX watches are a good choice. And with actor Robert Downey Jr. always stepping out in style, it looks great on him off-screen. For a Hollywood star that jets around the world and a superhero that literally flies around like a jet, a GMT and world time chrono are perfect models to pick.
AMVOX5 World Chronograph for Iron Man 3
Seen above on Robert Downey Jr’s wrist in South Korea is the AMVOX5 in Titanium-Ceramic. This new member to the AMVOX family includes functions for world time, date and chronograph, with hour, 30-minute and 60-second counters. The dial is styled after an Aston Martin grill, with a partial view of the movement within.
The high-tech Jaeger-LeCoultre 44mm ceramic case is a blend of zirconium and yttrium oxides. The case is exposed to extreme pressure and temperatures before being formed with special diamond-tipped tools. It’s also available in Rose Gold-Ceramic and Blue Titanium-Ceramic, with a closed dial. Each is fitted with racing-inspired perforated calfskin leather strap. And in case you’re wondering about the baby blue blazer and polka dot sneaker combo that only RDJ can pull off, the blazer is by Salvatore Ferragamo and he’s wearing Y-3 Honja High Polka Dot Sneakers.

AMVOX3 Tourbillon GMT for Iron Man 2
While Bvlgari watches featured on Robert Downey Jr’s wrist in the first Iron Man film, they didn’t get much publicity. For the sequel, Tony Stark stepped up to a watch more worthy of the billionaire superhero with the AMVOX3 Tourbillon GMT. It’s shown here in Pink Gold-Ceramic, but also came in a Platinum-Ceramic version.
Released in 2011, this watch also uses an Aston Martin mesh grill inspired dial but is more open to revealing the movement and tourbillon. A long hand displays the date around the dial, while a shorthand displays the second time zone. At 12 o’clock there is an am/pm indicator and the tourbillon includes a small-seconds subdial.

This watch also measures 44mm, is made of black ceramic and is fitted with a racing-inspired perforated calfskin leather strap.
